What A Doula Can Do For You.
Having a birth doula is an important part of your preparations for your birth. Pregnancy and labour is a time when you deserve to be placed front and centre of your own unique experience. Being listened to and supported as you go through your pregnancy is vital. Learning how to advocate for yourself, being able to put it into practice and educating yourself on how and what your options are.
My role is to be there just for you. I care for you throughout your pregnancy and birth. I help you understand your pregnancy and birth. I help you understand you and your body,
I give you the support and information you will need to navigate the maternity services in Ireland. Experience is key here as each hospital differs from the next and each birth brings a different set of challenges that we will navigate together.
Feeling good about your birth experience and knowing you have done everything you can do and being informed is so important and is often not realized until after your birth.
Being your doula, I will create a safe and supportive environment for you to explore your options, feel comfortable with your choices and help you to have a good experience.
A doula is not there to judge you, influence you or tell you what to do. But instead, inform, listen and encourage you to take control of your choices and have a positive experience. I can give your birth partner tools and ideas to be the best support they can be for you during pregnancy and birth and prepare them to work as a team to be the best for you.
We will meet in person two times during your pregnancy. These meetings are generally 3hrs long each. We can chat over the phone anytime and have you prepared and ready for the next part of your journey.
I only provide one Doula package. I believe in giving every woman and family the best of me and the same care and attention, that is why I chose to to have a flat rate for everybody. I give 100% to each and evryone of my clients.
You can call or message me at any point and ask questions and navigate some situations you may need help through. Then after 38 weeks I am available 24hrs a day for you.
During Labour
Throughout your labour and birth, I will be right by your side! I am the one person that will be with you and your partner that is not a stranger and I will not leave you. While the doctors and midwives may come and go (or even switch at a shift-change), your doula is with you the whole way. At no point will I take over. I will provide space for you and your partner to experience this journey together.
As your doula I will try anticipate your needs be it a sip of water, a position change or whatever needs you or your partner have.
I can help you find comfortable positions, and manage pain with alternative options from my vast experience with Hypnobirthing. I can help you remain calm and focused during your labour which reduces pain and creates a more positive birth experience.
I’m a trained breastfeeding counsellor and you are more than welcome to attend one of my breastfeeding workshops and I will help you establish feeding after your birth.
Every woman’s needs are different I would love to chat so please get in touch.
